Work begins to turn Grade II listed Newcastle building into student accommodation

Work has begun to turn a former Grade II listed Newcastle furniture store into student accommodation. Built in 1910, Plummer House on Market Street was famously known for housing Tilley’s, which held tea dances in its ballroom. But last year the property, which until September 2012 had been Chapman’s Furniture, was sold to Fusion Residential to become a 248-room student block.
