PLANS to convert a listed building opposite Windsor’s Parish Church into a restaurant have been lodged.

Proposals have ben submitted for the former Leapfrog Research And Planning office in High Street, to be converted into a restaurant.

The design and access statement for the plan states: “The proposal change of use of the premises to that of a restaurant which will improve the vitality and viability of the shopping centre compared to the use of the premises as offices by Leapfrog with a minimal area of class A1 use.

“Whilst a small area of retail floorspace would be lost, the net improvement in footfall to this unit and this end of the High Street will enhance the shopping experience and support other businesses.”

The unit has been vacant since June 2012 when Leapfrog was taken over by the Cello Group and so vacated the premises and moved to its new owner’s London head office.

A decision on the proposal will be made by March 30. To comment, go to www.rbwm.gov.uk
