A DERELICT house in Tredegar which went up for auction with a starting price of just £1 sold for £21,000. The fire damaged semi-detached house in Brangwyn Close, Cefn Golau, went under the hammer on Thursday, October 29 and was snapped up by a carpenter who travelled from London to take part in the auction. A proposed bylaw amendment aimed at preserving pre-Civil War houses in Chilmark had its first public hearing on Monday, drawing general support. Plans are being drawn up to restore a centuries-old historic building in the heart of a Northumberland seaside village.
