Banbury war memorial awarded listing building status

Banbury’s war memorial in People’s Park has been awarded listed building status by Historic England. The monument has been added to the list of Buildings of Special Historic Interest and approval for the Grade II-listing was given by John Whittingdale MP, the Secretary of State for Culture, Media and Sport after Historic England submitted its recommendations. Environment Minister Mark H Durkan today “listed” two historic rural houses and an 18th century bridge near Claudy in Co Derry. A large area of Hartlepool marina is up for sale with an asking price of just under £5million. Brixton Rec Users Group considering applying for listed status to help protect …

Brixton Rec Users Group (BRUG) is considering the idea of applying to have the building listed as an extra layer of protection for the Rec. The volunteer group that campaigns for improvements at Brixton Rec said: “BRUG and Rec users fought off threats of its demolition in 2007 and 2012. Lambeth has committed £10m to developing the Rec.
