A striking group of Georgian listed buildings in the University area - including one on the Buildings at Risk register - are to be converted back into homes, if planners agree. Developer Thomas Homes Limited has applied to restore and convert four buildings on the University of Reading London Road campus. Clearly the 700k is what they've determined the land itself is worth, which is interesting since you can likely buy another property, with a liveable house on it, on the same street for maybe 800-900k max. Meanwhile, for this plot, after you've forked over 700k, you then have to demolish the house (which is essentially unlivable), figure out if the land is even stable enough to rebuild on - if it's not, you're screwed. Bray Studios could be turned into 25 new homes as the company behind the 44 houses being built nearby in Water Oakley launches a planning application to develop the iconic Hammer Horror site and its listed building.   Farmglade wants to restore and partially demolish Down Place House, and add a two-storey extension, to create 10 new homes, and demolish surrounding buildings to build 15 houses.
