A ‘green corridor’ could be transformed if plans to build 48 new homes in Haywards Heath get the green light. Campaigners for the Birchen Fields Action group are objecting to plans to develop land north of Birchen Lane in Haywards Heath. A MAYOR plans to refer himself to a council’s standards committee in an attempt to quash allegations made about the controversial sale of a listed building. Middlesbrough Mayor Ray Mallon made the pledge following a confrontation between himself and Brambles Farm and North Ormesby Councillor Len Junier over comments made on social media. Car carrier listing in Solent assessed for stability before salvage operation

A car carrier which ran aground causing it to list heavily in a busy shipping lane is being assessed for stability before a salvage operation can be mounted. The 25 crew members of the Hoegh Osaka were rescued by a coastguard helicopter and lifeboats after it became stranded on Bramble Bank, in the Solent between Southampton and the Isle of Wight, at about 9.20pm on Saturday.
