South Africa to Assess Selling IDC Stakes in Listed Stocks

South Africa would consider selling stakes in publicly traded companies, including those held indirectly through Industrial Development Corp., to bolster the finances of power utility Eskom Holdings SOC Ltd. The government said last week in its mid-term budget it would provide Eskom with 20 billion rand ($1.8 billion) through the sale of non-strategic assets. Almost half of the companies on the list have generated more than 30pc of sales from innovations that occurred in the prior three years, the respondents said. Risca museum threatened with closure if council sell building

A RISCA museum is under threat of closure after Caerphilly County Borough Council expressed an interest in selling the building that houses it. Oxford House Industrial History Museum, in Grove Road, has held a collection of memorabilia and artefacts from the industrial history of the area for the last 18 years. Highest level of profit warnings issued by UK-listed companies for six years

UK-LISTED companies issued their highest number of third quarter profit warnings since 2008, according to a new report from EY.It showed that quoted companies issued 69 profit warnings in Q3 2014, the highest third quarter total since 2008 and 13 more than the same quarter of 2013.Retailers issued the highest number of warnings over the summer since 2011 - typified by Tesco and its succession of announcements that has seen its value halve in a year.Alan Read more [...]
