Church seeks answers over South African mine massacre

British shareholders in the platinum mine company, Lonmin, including trade union Unison and the Church of England, have expressed concern about its handling of a strike that ended in a massacre in South Africa.Research by the Bureau of Investigative Journalism found close co-operation between the London-listed company, the South African police and the African National Congress in the events leading up to, and during, violence in August 2012, when 34 striking miners were shot dead by police.
