38 Hawaiian Species Are Endangered, Per Agency

     WASHINGTON (CN) - The U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service has listed three tree snail species and 35 plant species on the island cluster of Maui Nui in Hawaii as endangered under the Endangered Species Act. The agency used an ecosystem-based approach for the listing regulation because "native species that occur in the same habitat types (ecosystems) depend on many of the same biological features and the successful functioning of that ecosystem to survive," the action said.     The listing Read more [...]

Call for fire-hit listed building to be saved

A leading conservation group is calling for an historic listed building, wrecked by fire, to be saved from demolition. The Victorian Society has written to transport authority Centro about its plans to pull down the Old Steam Mill, on Corn Hill, Wolverhampton. The building is set to make way for the extension to the Midlands Metro through Wolverhampton City Centre.
