Area housing market shows signs of renewed vigor

Housing markets in Whitfield and Murray counties bounced back in 2012, with the average sales price increasing in both counties and total sales up in Whitfield from 2011. Data from Dalton MLS Inc., a multiple listing service, show that the average sales price of a home in Whitfield County rose to $94,415 in 2012 from $80,657 the previous year, an increase of 17.06 percent. Solid year of home sales in Lancaster County fuels optimism for 2013

Lancaster County home sales ended last year on a positive note, continuing the strong, consistent performance that characterized the market during 2012. The president of the local Realtors association says that trend is likely to stay here, with anecdotal evidence showing a high level of activity as 2013 gets under way. Napa home prices, sales rise in 2012

The Napa County real estate market bounced back in 2012 from the recession, new data indicates. The number of homes sold in the county in 2012 topped pre-recession levels with home prices rising along with those sales. Low inventory and increasing values have even lead new home builders to take a second look at Napa, something that’s been sorely missing from the market for years, experts said.
