Housing Market Notches Its Best Year Since Slump

BY NICK TIMIRAOS U.S. existing-home sales last year rose to their highest annual level in five years and registered their largest annual jump since 2004, the latest sign that more housing markets hit bottom last year amid ultralow interest rates and strong investor demand. UK listings continue to fall

The number of UK firms listed across the London Stock Exchange and its junior Alternative Investment Market totalled 2,179 at the end of December 2012, down 2.2% from 2,228 a year earlier, according to the latest data from the World Federation of Exchanges. These numbers are a far cry from the record 2,913 domestic companies that were listed in London at the end of December 2006. Dutch pensions giant begins house hunting in UK

Algemene Pensioen Groep, better known as APG, is the fund manager for the €325bn Dutch civil service pension scheme ABP.
