Isabelle Lendl, the 2009 champion, is off to a fast start in her bid to win a second Women's Eastern Golf Association Amateur Championship. Lendl, the daughter of former pro tennis star Ivan Lendl, fired a 70 on Tuesday to take the first-round lead at the Country Club of York. Downtown area moves toward historic listing

The downtown area of Le Mars may be listed on the National Register of Historic Places this fall. The Iowa Nomination Review Committee approved the application for the National Register listing Friday in Dubuque, according to Iris Hemmingson, chairwoman, Le Mars Historic Preservation Commission. Corbin Tourism Board budget approved

CORBIN — By Jeff Noble / Staff writer The Corbin Tourism and Convention Commission’s budget for the upcoming fiscal year will show a deficit of $72,000. But cash reserves of over $330,000 will offset that loss, according to officials. With that, the new budget was later approved by board members at their regular monthly meeting, held Monday at the Tourism Commission offices on Depot Street. Metro Detroit home prices and sales rose in May making some believe the market has turned from a buyer's to a seller's market, creating renewed hope for a continued slow recovery in housing.The strong case comes in the sharp increase in median home price in May compared with the same month last year.
