Canberra should sell off Medibank, says NIB chief

THE head of Australia's only listed health insurer says the federal government no more needs to own leading insurer Medibank Private than it does former assets Telstra or the Commonwealth Bank, and he expects a swift listing if the Coalition wins the next election. Chancellor under fire over listed buildings VAT increase

A BROAD coalition of organisations has written to the Chancellor urging him not to press ahead with a 20% increase in VAT on approved alterations to listed buildings. A total of 17 organisations have signed a letter to George Osborne describing the disruption the Budget measure is already causing to planned building projects and the threat it poses to the future of the UK’s historic buildings. Fowler short-listed for prestigious Turner Prize
