Streets, crime prevention listed as priorities in Columbia resident survey

COLUMBIA — Nearly 60 percent of Columbians are dissatisfied with the condition of city streets, and 70 percent are satisfied with how safe they feel in their neighborhoods at night, according to a survey conducted for the city by independent consultants. About 800 residents responded to the random survey, and overall satisfaction was evenly distributed across all geographic areas. ST. LOUIS — A sputtering economy and the shortage of available historic tax credits are hampering efforts in St. Louis to sell nearly a dozen vacant schools.
