Napier Sells Historic Campus Site For Development

Edinburgh Napier University’s expansive Craighouse campus has been sold for residential development. The leafy, 51 acre site in the Morningside area dates back to the 12th century and has a colourful past as the home of an asylum and the man who introduced skyscrapers to Japan. The proposed redevelopment by the Craighouse Partnership includes the restoration of the site’s seven Category A listed buildings for residential use, accompanied by a range of new homes. Punch plans to recoup losses with pubs sale

The Bridge Inn pub, a former Salvation Army headquarters next to a roundabout in Liverpool’s Norris Green neighbourhood, has not had a happy history.

Once a family destination, over the past three decades it has developed into “a man’s pub”, in the words of the new landlord, Dawn Grant. It was grubby at best, dangerous at worst, and a hangout for local gang members. As of last summer, it only brought in about £4,000 a week.
