The Jones business, which has 93 branches in the UK, is to be combined with the 150-strong Brantano chain, bought by Amsterdam-listed Macintosh in 2008. The deal will see Peter Phillips, chairman of Jones, and its chief executive, Ken Bartle, step down from their roles. Fujairah: Wadi Wurayah in Fujairah has been named the second protected area in the UAE under the Ramsar Convention for wetlands. It is the second site in the UAE after Ras Al Khor in Dubai to enter the Ramsar list and is home to more than 300 species of flora. Dividend pay-outs to rise in the UK

Dividend payments from listed UK companies will rise 11.5 per cent this year after two years of falling pay-outs due to the financial crisis, recession and the Gulf of Mexico disaster, according to a study.

But the rise to £63bn ($100bn), forecast by Capita Registrars, an arm of the outsourcing specialist, would mean that dividends were still lower than the cash paid out in 2007 and 2008.
