Upgrade of Grade II listed Dorset bridge completed

The improvements have been a two-year project
A multi-million pound project to repair an historic Grade II listed bridge in Dorset has been completed.
The revamp of Canford Main Bridge and its flood arches cost £3.167m and included repairs to the stonework.

Number of Problem Banks Rises: What About Those Not on the List?
The number of problem banks, as listed by the FDIC, continued to rise in the third quarter of 2010. The number went from 829 at the end of the second quarter to 860 in the third quarter.Forty-one banks failed in the third quarter, an average of about 3.2 banks per week. A WAR memorial which has just been restored could be listed so that is is protected for future generations.
Delicate work to restore the face has been carried out at the memorial in Chorley New Road, Horwich, with £600 of the cost being funded by Horwich Town Council.

The annual Newton Dollars for Scholars Tour of Homes, set for Saturday, Dec. 4, has been raising money to benefit Newton Senior High School seniors since the local chapter was chartered in 1985. Newton’s chapter is also affiliated with the Citizen’s Scholarship Foundation of America.

College looking to expand classrooms
DENSTONE College is set to build a new classroom block if given the goahead by planning chiefs as the school continues to grow.
The educational establishment has applied to East Staffordshire Borough Council to demolish the north changing room to provide a new block for 10 classrooms.
Its states the building has ‘fallen into a measure of disrepair’ and ‘an unsightly unloved building does nothing to present the school well when viewed from the drive as it should be.’
