Abbey entered for Alleged prize

St Nicholas Abbey is among a fascinating list of entries for the geegeez.co.uk Alleged Stakes at the Curragh on Sunday.

Aidan O’Brien’s colt has not been seen in competitive action since letting down favourite backers in the 2000 Guineas almost a year ago, but he did enjoy an unbeaten juvenile campaign in 2009.

Among his rivals in the 10-furlong Listed contest could be Unaccompanied, trained by Dermot Weld, who ran a mighty race to fill the runner-up spot behind Zarkandar in the Triumph Hurdle at Cheltenham earlier this month.

She also holds an entry in the Give Your Mother A Treat Handicap at the same meeting.

Elsewhere on an excellent card, Jim Bolger’s Glor Na Mara, third behind Frankel in last year’s Dewhurst, could make his return in the Anne Brewster Memorial Loughbrown Stakes, in which the trainer has four possibles.

The most valuable race of the day is the Big Bad Bob Gladness Stakes, which has attracted 11 entries, including Tommy Stack’s Park Express Stakes winner Lolly For Dolly, Termagant and the Dandy Nicholls-trained Regal Parade.

The Rockview (QR) Flat Race is the final in the amateur riders’ series and has 20 possibles, with Willie Mullins well represented by the hat-trick-seeking Samain and Lovethehigherlaw.
