Liverpool Playhouse actress nominated for prestigious theatre award

The actress who played a severely disabled child in the Liverpool Playhouse’s joint production of A Day in the Death of Joe Eggs has been nominated for a prestigious theatre award.

Jessica Bastick-Vines has been short-listed for Best Supporting Performance in the Theatre Awards UK.

She is up against Siân Phillips for This is MyFamily at Sheffield Theatres and Sally Reid for Time and the Conways at Royal Lyceum Theatre, Edinburgh and Dundee Rep.

Starring the Royle Family’s Ralf Little, A Day in the Death of Joe Egg was a co-production by the Liverpool Everyman Playhouse and Rose Theatre Kingston earlier this year.

Theatre Awards UK is the only nationwide awards scheme to honour creative excellence and the outstanding achievement seen on and off stage throughout England, Scotland, Wales and Northern Ireland.

A number of performers in previous Everyman and Playhouse productions have been nominated for Theatre Awards UK in recent years, including Jonathan Pryce and Leanne Best

Best was nominated in the Best Performance category last year for the celebrated Playhouse Studio production of The Match Box, a role she reprised for a month-long run at London’s Tricycle Theatre in May.

The awards will be announced on Sunday, October 20.
