Malibu Estate Of Kim Howe Listed at $12 Million

SELLER: Estate of Kim Howe
LOCATION: Malibu, CA
PRICE: $12,000,000
SIZE: 4,976 square feet, 4 bedrooms, 5.5 bathrooms

YOUR MAMA’S NOTES: A Malibu estate owned by Kim Howe, the 69-year old woman who died in the internationally publicized February 2015 multi-car collision on Malibu’s Pacific Coast Highway that involved a not yet officially transitioned Caitlyn Jenner, has come up for sale at $12,000,000. The Point Dume property appears to have been purchased by Miz Howe and her late husband out of foreclosure in 1993 for the bargain basement price of $555,837.

Though possessed of spectacular coastline, ocean and sunset views, the 1.05-acre bluff-top property above Westward Beach looks like it’s seen better days and is being marketed without any photos of the interiors as a “Great opportunity to upgrade…” The current residence, a clunky, early-1980s mock-Tudor set down a long, gated drive that passes a tennis court on its way to a brick accented concrete motor court and three-car detached garage, measures in at 4,976-square-feet with four bedrooms, 5.5 bathrooms and four fireplaces. Formal living and dining rooms are joined by a den/office, kitchen, and a family room with convenient full bathroom. A separate guesthouse provides another two bedrooms and two bathrooms, per listing details. Multi-level terraces extend the full width of the house and give way to a yard that slopes to a vertiginous, privacy ensuring, 30-foot plus bluff.

A quick spin through various property records databases indicates that Miz Howe owned quite a bit of real estate including but not necessarily limited to: a 3,446-square-foot house in Phoenix; a vacant 1.85-acre residential parcel in the upscale Bell Canyon community in L.A.’s far western suburbs; a three-bedroom and three bathroom townhouse-type condo in Pacific Palisades; and a 6,173-square-foot mock-Med residence in affluent gated development in Calabasas that was acquired in 2003 from former professional baseball player Bret Saberhagen for $2.525 million, happens to not so far from a couple of the Kardashians, and sits right next door to a similarly-sized home owned former beauty queen and reality television personality Shanna Moakler that’s currently listed for sale at $2.495 million.
