National Trials: Melaine Walker listed for 100m hurdles

Olympic and World Championships 400m hurdles gold medal winner Melaine Walker is listed to compete in the second of three semi-finals of the women’s 100m hurdles at the JAAA/Supreme Ventures National Senior Championships at the National Stadium today.

It’s left to be seen if Walker, who has not competed in Jamaica since the 2012 National Championships, will actually show up for the event, but she is listed to run out of lane seven in a semi that also features defending champion Monique Morgan and Kimberly Laing who have both gone sub-13 this season.

Walker has competed in three 100m hurdles races this season but has not been active since April, registering a season best time of 13.27.

The highly accomplished 400m hurdler had expressed her intention to compete in the 100m hurdles – an event she did competitively in high school and college, after splitting from the MVP camp in the aftermath of a disappointing London Olympic campaign.
