Food-and-drink events on the rise in Las Vegas

Las Vegas is one of the fastest-growing food-and-drink event cities in the country, according to ticketing and events website Eventbrite.

The company’s internal study analyzed more than 40,000 food- and drink-focused events listed on the website in 2014 to pull out current trends, culinary capitals and destinations showing the most FB growth.

With a 72% increase in such dining or drinking events year over year, Las Vegas ranked third for growth, behind Miami (117% growth) and Charlotte (77% growth). Overall, food-and-drink events grew 47% on Eventbrite from 2013, with pop-up-style dining emerging as the fastest-growing trend, followed by communal dining, breakfast and brunch, spirits and mixology, and local or organic.

The study also ranked Las Vegas 13th among the top 25 “food-loving” cities, as calculated by the number of food-and-drink events listed on Eventbrite in 2014 within each metropolitan area. New York and San Francisco took the top two spots, with Chicago, Washington and Austin, Texas, rounding out the top five.

In Las Vegas, there’s always another tasty event around the corner. Annual mega-fest Vegas Uncork’d just threw in the napkin, as did the food truck-focused Great American Foodie Fest. Local cafe MTO continues its pop-up supper series, and former Strip chef Sammy DeMarco will cook for a pop-up dinner at Tivoli Village’s Made LV on May 20.
