Introducing Event Tracker, your complete Staten Island community calendar …

STATEN ISLAND, N.Y. — The holiday season — where everyone is making plans, and checking out fun things to do — is the perfect time to introduce Event Tracker —SILive’s brand new community events calendar.

Head over to SILive.com/events on your desktop or mobile device and browse or search through just about anything happening on Staten Island, from fairs and festivals, to museums and music. It’s the ultimate tool for checking out all that Staten Island has to offer.

And that’s where the community comes in. Staten Island organizations — civic, cultural, non-profit and religious — are invited to submit their events for all of Staten Island to see.

All groups wishing to submit their coming events must use the “Submit Event” link in the upper right-hand corner of the SIlive.com/events page.

Submission through the new form is required both for publication on SILive and in the Advance.

Dozens of users have already successfully listed events using our new tool. Here are some tips to help the rest of you get you started:

  • No accounts or passwords are required for event submission.
  • Nonprofit organizations should select the “Community” category for their upcoming events.
  • When selecting your venue, note that you must type the name of the venue exactly as it appears in our event calendar database. If a venue starts with “a” or “the” please skip to the next word in the venue name. For example, for The St. George Theatre, you must type “St. George Theatre” in the venue field; typing in “The St. George Theatre” or “Saint George Theatre” will return no matches.
  • Note that there is an 800-character limit in the event description field. Be sure to include key information: What is the sponsoring organization? What exactly is happening? Who is benefiting? Who are the awardees?
  • Note that we currently are unable to accept photographs or other attachments through the form.

As always, we reserve the right to edit submissions.

Our commitment to supporting nonprofit organizations that serve our community is unwavering. We believe that this new system will be more effective and efficient, and that our redesigned calendar will ultimately be a benefit.

If you have any questions as you try out the new system, please don’t hesitate to reach out to our event calendar coordinator, Maureen Donnelly, at calendar@siadvance.com.
