Assassin’s Creed: Rogue for Xbox 360 listed by retailer

This year’s rumoured last-gen-only Assassin’s Creed endeavour appears to be titled Assassin’s Creed: Rogue – the game has been listed for October release (via Google Cache, Gematsu) by online retailer World of Games.

The new Assassin’s Creed is rumoured to be codenamed “Comet”. According to Gameblog and Kotaku, it’s set in North America – to be more specific, New York – and stars a Templar named Shay. The new game is described by one Kotaku source as a cross between Assassin’s Creed 3 and the Freedom Cry DLC for Assassin’s Creed 4. There will be plenty of sailing, allegedly, plus guest appearances from Haytham Kenway and Adewal among other returning characters.

In June, Ubisoft’s marketing executive Tony Key hinted at the existence of another upcoming Assassin’s Creed game besides Assassin’s Creed: Unity, commenting that “there’s plenty of current-gen Assassin’s Creed fans out there” and that “we hope to be able to talk to them about that soon.” Ubisoft has elsewhere stated that the franchise will support Xbox 360 for “the foreseeable future”.

It’s possible we’ll hear more at Gamescom in August.
