‘Caroonboon’ up for sale

THE historic “Caroonboon” at Wanganella has just been listed for sale by the Dickson family whose ownership of the property stretches back to 1861.

The sprawling property of just under 73,000 acres (around 30,000 hectares) has been listed with James Sides, Landmark Harcourts Deniliquin.

The Dicksons are selling for retirement purposes.

The property is home to the Caroonboon Merino stud.

Selling agent James Sides said “Caroonboon” was amongst the largest privately owned pastoral holdings in the south western Riverina, and had extensive Billabong Creek frontage.

“The property represents some of the best sheep grazing and wool production country in the south west,” Mr Sides said.

He said the property is expected to attract interest from both the corporate investment sector, as well as family operators.

“Caroonboon” is scheduled for a September 19 auction.
