Town restaurant owner and chef Ed Kenney registered a new business with the state of Hawaii for a retail store in the same neighborhood as his Kaimuki restaurant.

Kenney registered Kaimuki Superette LLC on June 2 but told PBN he was not ready to discuss his business plans.

“They will appear when they appear,” Kenney said, “There are no concrete plans as of yet.”

Kenney declined to comment further, however, the trade name filed for Kaimuki Superette said the purpose was to “manage and operate a retail store and deli shop.”

Kenney also registered Uptown Events with the state. The business is already listed on Town’s website as opening in 2009.

Kenney opened Town in 2005 after completing the Culinary Institute of the Pacific’s culinary arts program. Taking a farm-to-table approach, Kenny focused on the mantra “local first, organic whenever possible, with aloha always” to lead his restaurant.

Kenney also cooked for first lady Michelle Obama during the luncheon at Kualoa Ranch for spouses and partners of the world leaders who took part in the Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation meetings in Honolulu in 2011.
