There were 13 reported fires at the University of East Anglia in 2012-13.

According to data given to the UEA’s council, the number of fire alarm activations fell to 202 in 2012-13, from 270 in 2011. Most were in residential buildings.

The report gives short details about the 13 reported fires, including their location. Here is the list:

• Arson, Outside Earlham Hall

• Student burning shoeboxes in room, Constable Terrace

• Smouldering within reactor, Biomass

• Seal on extractor burnt out, SCVA

• Pile of leaves set alight, Outside Orwell Close

• Cooking, Nelson Court

• Cooking, Suffolk Terrace

• Chemical discarded in bin, Chemistry

• Food in microwave oven on fire, Paston House

• Oil in frying pan fire, Colman House

• Pizza box left on top of hobs, that were on, Constable Terrace

• Plastic plate left on top of grill, Britten House

• Working with petroleum ether next to a hot plate, Chemistry

• Ten reportable accidents at the University of East Anglia in 2012-13

  • I’m surprised that the occasion when some kind soul decided to fully grass turf the lift is not mentioned anywhere. Whilst not an accident it did appear to be a reasonable job.
