Solar panels planned near listed building in conservation area

Planning permission is being sought to put solar panels near a listed building within a conservation area.

North Lincolnshire Council is being asked to approve the energy generating panels for a south-facing garage roof at 31 Queen Street, Kirton in Lindsey.

The council says this application “affects the setting of a listed building – The Priory.”

It was built in the 1790s as a House of Correction.

The garage was constructed in 2006 and as its roof is not visible from the front of the property, the applicant does not consider the solar panels will detract from the historical significance of the main house, which is grade two listed.

The council is now considering the application and says it will welcome comments until March 20.
