With the premiere of “The Hobbit: The Desolation of Smaug” this weekend, Bilbo Baggins will return to the big screen on his epic journey through Middle-Earth. Although he may not make it back to the Shire in this movie, memories of his fictional home in a hill remain. Peter Jackson’s adaptation of J.R.R. Tolkien’s famous novel was filmed in New Zealand, but that doesn’t mean the Shire can’t exist in your neighborhood.
