GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. (WOOD) – There are numerous businesses offering free meals and other offers to honor veterans on Veterans Day on Monday.

In order to participate in these events, you will need proof of military service. Most companies require some form of military ID, including a military ID card, current leave and earnings statement, driver’s license with veterans designation, or a photograph in uniform.

— All active service military, veterans and first responders (ID required) can eat dinner for free Monday at these listed Gilmore Collection restaurants — Mangiamo!, Blue Water Grill, The Kirby House, Bostwick Lake Inn, Red Jet Café, Rose’s on Reed’s Lake, Flat River Grill, and The B.O.B. The offer is valid during dinner hours on Monday only. The purchase of a second entrée is required for a free entrée. $25 maximum value. Offer valid at restaurants listed above only.

— Supermercado Mexico, 1160 Chicago Dr. SW in Wyoming, is offering a free lunch consisting of tacos and agua de horchata (refreshing traditional Mexican rice water) to all veterans from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m.

— Customers who stop in for a service at any Great Clips salon in the United States get a free haircut card to give to a veteran. The free haircut cards are redeemable by members of the military from Nov. 11 to Dec. 31, 2013. Some other events around West Michigan —

— The Kalamazoo County Veterans Day Ceremony will be held at Rose Park Veterans Memorial (West Michigan Avenue at Kings Highway). The formal program begins at 2 p.m.; however the program is preceded by a reading of the names of all of the Kalamazoo County citizens who have died in our nation’s wars.

— Grand Rapids Veterans Day Parade will step off at 7:30 p.m. at Michigan Street and Division Avenue, travel south on Division Avenue to Fulton Street, and east on Fulton Street to Veterans Park. A short ceremony will follow.

— Michigan Gov. Rick Snyder will be at the Silver Star Apartments in Battle Creek, which provides housing for homeless veterans. The facility is opening a new unit, allowing permanent housing for 100 homeless veterans in Michigan. The announcement is scheduled for 12:30 p.m.

— At Davenport University in Grand Rapids, members of the military will be displaying vehicles and equipment like the ones currently being used overseas. Those who attend will have a chance to write letters to current Davenport students who are deployed. There will also be free face-painting, temporary tattoos, and a free hot dog lunch. The event starts at 10:30 a.m. and is open to the public.

— The Holland Museum will unveil “Medal of Honor,” a new interactive display honoring Holland’s Medal of Honor recipients

— The Union High School Junior Reserve Officers’ Training Corps (JROTC) will conduct an honor guard stationed at the school’s war memorial wall, which commemorates Union High alumni who gave their lives during World War II; 8 a.m. to 2:50 p.m. at 1800 Tremont Boulevard NW in Grand Rapids

— The Air Zoo in Portage is offering free admission for veterans and active military members

— Veterans Day service at Veterans Memorial Park, 5747 Belmont Ave. in Plainfield Township in Kent County; 7 p.m., to remember and recognize those who have served the United States of America

— Ceremony at Caledonia American Legion Post 305 at 7 p.m. in Caledonia
