Govt houses: 30 cases sent to rent control court

Thirty cases of illegal possession of government houses have been sent to rent control court for disposal.  The court will take decision regarding recovery of rent from the defaulters.

Similarly 14 cases are listed with the court of Divisional Commissioner for hearing in this regard, sources said.

On orders of Divisional Commissioner Sanjay Dubey, a number of teams had conducted survey of 900 government residences in Indore.

The teams had found 99 officials, who had either occupied the government residence despite being transferred out of district, some had locked the house and living somewhere else and some had given the house to their relatives or other unauthorised persons.

Data was collected from Treasury to know the posting of the officials and thereafter notices were issued to them through their respective head of departments.

The defaulter included senior officers and many of them gave explanation to the commissioner. The defaulters were shortlisted and eventually 65 were to face action. Out of these 30 cases were referred to rent control court and 14 cases have been listed with the court of divisional commissioner, sources said.

SDM Sapna Jain, judge of the rent control, acknowledged said that cases have been received and said that the cases will be taken up soon. Sources said many the defaulters were asked to give explanations by August 15 but they were given 15 days time due to holidays and later due to Chandan Nagar incident.
