Jet guitarist gives to Tutungi appeal

“They’re a bit of memorabilia of Australian rock’n’roll history from a band that’s not around any more, and there’s no chance we would ever sign another guitar I don’t think. Everyone lives all over the world.”

Former VFL-listed player Tutungi was diagnosed with quadriplegia after an on-field accident playing for South Barwon.

Cats’ supporter Wilson, now based in Melbourne, heard about the injury as a football fan and of its impact via networks of friends.

“It definitely resonated with me and lots of people I know who follow football and are a similar age I guess,” he said.

Geelong Cats players and coaching staff will attend next month’s auction and sit on every table.

Victorian Premier Denis Napthine will attend, ‘voice of the AFL’ Craig Willis will compere and acclaimed Geelong father and son singers Cameron and Taylor Henderson will perform.

Other auction items include a $5500 Kokoda trek, a night for two people in a Channel 7 commentary box, five nights on Magnetic Island, a corporate golf day for 40 people at Kingswood Golf Club and Vast furniture to the value of $5000.

Tickets to the dinner at $200 a person or $1900 for a table of 10 are available from the Cats’ events department on 5225 2315.

The club yesterday sold the 100th in a special edition run of Cats guernseys, branded with Tutungi’s initials and number, completing a money-raising effort of $100,000 for his future fund.
