Movies Under the Stars

Description: The Village of Ossining’s Bicentennial Celebration continues
with a showing of the 1932 classic “20,000 Years at Sing Sing” on Ossining’s
beautiful waterfront adjacent to where it was originally filmed, Sing Sing
Prison. Starring Spencer Tracy, Bette Davis, and Arthur Byron. Pre-movie
concert featuring urban folk-jazz artist KJ Denhert begins at 7:30 p.m.
Moviegoers are encouraged to bring a blanket or comfortable low-back chair.

Description: The event will feature selected speeches and a reading of the
Declaration of Independence. The event takes place on the porch of the Rye Free Reading Room, 1061 Boston Post Rd., and will be followed by patriotic
singing and the unfurling of the American Legion’s historic American Flag on
the Village Green.
Rye: Playland Fireworks
Where: Playland, 100 Playland Pkwy, Rye

Description: Rye Playland treats locals to a spectacular show choreographed
to music to kick off the summer’s weekly fireworks shows and to celebrate
Independence Day.

suggest parking a few blocks away and walking down to the Playland boardwalk
without going into the park. You can avoid the crowds and see multiple
fireworks shows going on along the Long Island Sound.
Sleepy Hollow: Pirates of the Hudson

Description: Gangs of blackbeards and beauties will swashbuckle their way
through Philipsburg Manor at this raucously fun festival. Grab your brood and
bring ’em to Philipsburg Manor for the most fun this side of the Caribbean.
Join us as boisterous pirates lay anchor in the Hudson and storm Sleepy Hollow.
Musical pirates, gypsy sword dancers, and scallywags of all sorts will roam the
grounds, ready to make you smile while secretly stealin’ yer gold. Kids can
take part in the Pieces of Eight treasure hunt, wiggle their way into a pirate
shipwreck, get their picture taken with a talking parrot and a mermaid, and
learn to act like a bloody pirate! Enjoy a pint or two of beer from
Pleasantville’s Captain Lawrence Brewery and munch your way through the
pirate-palate-pleasing creations of Tastefully Yours.
Tuckahoe: Summertime Fireworks

Description: Entertainment begins at 7pm and features
music by the Showtime Dance Band. Be sure to come hungry, there will be various
food vendors selling traditional street fare food.
White Plains: St. Bernard’s Church Carnival
Where: 51 Prospect Street, White Plains, NY
When: July 3-6, 6 p.m. to 11 p.m.
Cost: Entry is free; prices vary for rides, games
and food.
