Nexus 4 Listed at Best Buy, Not Yet Available for Sale

Nexus 4 Listed at Best Buy, Not Yet Available for SaleGoogle’s LG-manufactured Nexus 4 is currently one of the most difficult to find smartphones that have been released in recent months. Despite hitting store shelves towards the end of last year, supplies of the handset haven’t gotten anywhere near the point where a consumer could just go to the Google Play Store and expect to be able to order a unit.

The Nexus 4 is still available on T-Mobile, but not only is this model carrier-locked, but the carrier subsidy doesn’t really make that much of a difference, considering the mid-range price point that Google has set the device at. Even so, availability of the T-Mobile Nexus 4 is still on-and-off, and while it could be purchased at the moment, this situation could change all of a sudden.

However, reports suggest that the Nexus 4 could finally be more widely available in the very near future. Android Police has picked up on a listing for the LG-manufactured handset on Best Buy, hinting that the retailer may soon formally offer the latest Nexus handset.

Unfortunately, the prices lie on the more expensive side of the scale. Best Buy lists the Nexus 4 on T-Mobile at $199.99, the same price that the carrier asks for the device. An unactivated unit will set a buyer back $600, which is firmly within flagship smartphone territory and far more expensive than what Google itself demands.

While the Nexus 4 is now out of stock at the Google Play Store, it would still be the most affordable way to pick up the LG-made device, assuming that one has the patience to wait. If the South Korean firm is correct, supplies of the Nexus 4 should normalize by next month, so it may be a better idea to wait for now.

For those looking for the unlocked Nexus 4, Amazon is currently offering the 8GB variant of the phone for $489.50, while the 16GB variant is selling for $587.39.

Update: The phone is now available in the Google Play store too.
