City offering tours, special events this winter

Several sightseeing tours and special events are scheduled this winter through the Albany Parks Recreation department. The tours are open to anyone over age 18. Costs are listed for Albany residents/those living outside city limits.

• Disney in The Bank, Salem, Thursday, Jan. 31, from 10:45 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. View a collection of limited-edition prints of new art used in animated Disney films at the new Roger Yost Gallery in a 1927 Art Deco former bank building. Lunch at Napoleon’s French café. Cost: $19/$25.

• Dinner at der Rheinlander, Portland, Wednesday, Feb. 13, from 3 to 8:30 p.m. Horst Mager’s restaurant offers authentic German food and culture. Cost is $50/$67 and includes meal, gratuity and transportation.

• Ballroom with A Twist, Portland, Sunday, Feb. 17, from 12:30 to 9 p.m. The Oregon Symphony presents music and dance by Louis van Amstel, four-time “Dancing with the Stars” pro. Register by Jan. 31. Cost: $68/$90.

• Cooking School at McKenzie Orchards, Eugene, Tuesday, Feb. 19, 3:15 to 10 p.m. Instruction in classic French cooking by owners of the McKenzie Orchards Bed and Breakfast Inn. Limited to 11 participants. Register by Feb. 7. Cost: $75/$100.
