Information may be e-mailed to mevans@thestokesnews.com or faxed to 591-4379. The deadline is 3 p.m. Monday prior to publication. Ongoing church calendar items will publish the last week of each month if space allows. However, the complete calendar, including ongoing events, may be accessed on the website. Items may be submitted two weeks prior to the event. Because of space limitations, some announcements only appear the week of the event.

Sun., Oct. 14

Homecoming — First Christian Church, Walnut Cove, will have their annual Homecoming Service on Oct. 14 at 11 a.m. Music by “Total Praise.” Memory tree and church speakers; covered dish luncheon following services. All invited.

Wed., Oct. 17

Potluck Supper — The 3rd Wed. Program and Potluck Supper will be held at 6:30 p.m. This is the regular meeting time of the new, nontraditional, ecumenical Episcopal congregation in Germanton associated with St. Philips. Meet at Germanton UMC. All are welcome.

Sat., Oct. 20

Bazaar — King Moravian Church Women’s Fellowship Fall Bazaar will be held Oct. 20 from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. Baked and canned goods, chicken pies, produce, crafts, pre-made gift baskets, attic treasures, breakfast and lunch, men’s fellowship. Brunswick stew also available. Located at 228 W. Dalton Road.

Clothes giveaway — Flat Rock Baptist Church, 1335 E. Pine Street, Mount Airy, will hold a clothing giveaway on Oct. 20 in the church fellowship hall from 7 a.m. to 1 p.m. The event is free and open to the public. For more information, call the church office at 786-7661.

Chicken pie supper — The St. Mark annual chicken pie supper and country store will be held Oct. 20 from 4:30 to 7 p.m. People will be served from a buffet of homemade chicken pie or ham, green beans, pintos, sweet potatoes, slaw, desserts and beverages. Prices are $8 for adults and $3.50 for children under age 10. Shop at the country store featuring baked and canned goods, crafts and tickets for a handmade quilt. Bazaar — First Christian Church, Walnut Cove, will have a Fall Yard Sale, Bazaar and Consignment Sale on Oct. 20 from 8 a.m. until 2 p.m. Consignment tables are $10 (you furnish table and chairs) or $20 (table and two chairs furnished). DV Awareness — A Gospel Fest will be held at Rising Star Baptist Church in October — Domestic Violence Awareness Month. The church is located at Windmill Street at Fowler Road, Walnut Cove. Event will be at 6 p.m. Money raised will be given to Stokes Family Violence and Sexual Assault Program.

Bazaar — Fall Bazaar and Hotdog Supper will be held at Lawsonville Church of God Annex Building on Oct. 20 at 5 p.m. Come out to enjoy the wonderful food and fellowship with church family. Two hotdogs, chips, drinks and dessert — $6. One hotdog, chips, drinks and dessert — $5.

Bazaar — Westfield Friends Meeting, 3161 Old Westfield Road, in the Westfield community, will hold its Fall Bazaar Oct. 20, from 7 a.m. until noon in the fellowship hall of the meetinghouse. Featured will be baked goods, homemade candies, fresh produce, home-canned goods, cook books, crafts, attic treasures, collectibles, a yard sale, and a quilt raffle. Sausage, gravy, and country ham biscuits will be available for breakfast.

Sun., Oct. 21-Wed., Oct. 24

Missions conference — Calvary Baptist Church, located at 536 S. Main Street, King, will host a National Missions Conference from Oct. 21-24. The schedule is as follows: Sunday School at 9:30 a.m., Sunday morning service at 10:30 a.m., Sunday evening service at 6:30 p.m., Monday at 7 p.m., Tuesday and Wednesday at 9:30 a.m. and 7 p.m. The public is invited to attend. Revival — Gospel Baptist Church, 1104 Mill Street, Pinnacle, will hold a revival Oct. 21-24. There will be a guest speaker each night and gospel singing each night. Everyone is invited.

Sun., Oct. 21

Hunger Walk — The Stokes County Community Crop Hunger Walk will be held in Walnut Cove on Oct. 21 at 2:30 p.m. The walk will begin at First Baptist Church on Summit St. All churches and civic organizations are welcome to join in the efforts to stamp out hunger throughout the world. Wed., Oct. 24

4th Wed. Compline — At 6:30 p.m. there will be a brief evening worship service and fellowship. Collection taken for East Stokes Outreach Ministry: canned food, personal hygiene items, and pet food. This is the regular meeting time of the new, nontraditional, ecumenical Episcopal congregation in Germanton associated with St. Philips. Meet at Germanton UMC. All are welcome.
