“Blast from the Past” is the theme of East Stroudsburg University’s 2012 Homecoming week festivities, which begin on Sunday.

“Blast from the Past” highlights include a home football game against West Chester University on Oct. 6. All homecoming activities listed below are open to the public.

SCHEDULE:

REC-EX annual 5-K Run and One-Mile Walk — Registration at 7:30 a.m., race will start at 8 a.m. Sunday. For information and to register, contact Jill Harper at 570-422-2978.

Comedian Evan Wecksell — 7 p.m. Tuesday, Common Grounds, University Center. Free. Call: 570-422-3396.

ESU’s Homecoming Pageant — 8 p.m. Wednesday, Keystone Room.

Pink Light Walk — at 5:30 p.m. Thursday, beginning in the Keystone Room and concluding at the Dale and Frances Hughes Cancer Center at Pocono Medical Center, 206 E. Brown St., East Stroudsburg. Registration at 5 p.m. and information booths followed by a brief program at 6 p.m. The walk will start at 6:15 p.m. Rain or shine. Information: PMC Hughes Cancer Center at 570-476-3488.

Friday, October 5

Remembrance Day Program — 1 p.m., Keystone Room. Members of the campus community and the general public are invited to attend this event to remember members of the ESU family who passed away in the last year. Information: ESU’s Office of Student Affairs at 570-422-3643.

Alumni Reunion and Distinguished Alumni Awards Banquet — 5 p.m., Keystone Room. This annual event pays recognition to those receiving this year’s Alumni Awards and the reunion classes of 1957, 1962 and 1967. Tickets for the banquet are $35. Reservations: Office of Alumni Engagement at 570-422-3530.

Warrior Spirit Night — 8:30 p.m., Eiler-Martin Stadium. The event will include performances from the university marching band and other fun school spirit activities.

Homecoming Fireworks Display — 9:30 p.m., Eiler-Martin Stadium.

Live DJ Music — 10 p.m., Dansbury Commons.

Saturday, October 6

ESU Athletic Hall of Fame Brunch — 8:30 a.m., Keystone Room. Registration at 8 a.m. Hall of Fame induction ceremony for alumni and coaches in recognition of extraordinary athletic and academic achievement at ESU. Open to the public. Reservations required. Tickets are $30 for adults and $15 for children, and include a ticket to the Warriors’ football game against West Chester at 1 p.m. Information: Greg Knowlden, sports information director, at 570-422-3312 or gknowlden@esu.edu.

Alumni Tailgate — 9 a.m. to 1 p.m., Henry A. Ahnert Jr. Alumni Center.

Rec B Open House — 9 a.m. to noon, Rear of Hawthorn Suites. Tour ESU’s newest fitness facility, which features cardiovascular machines with attached televisions, free weights, an elevated track and a studio for fitness classes.

Tours of Hemlock and Hawthorn Suites — 10 a.m. to noon. Tours will leave from the lobbies every 15 minutes.

LGBTQA Program Center Open House — 10 a.m. to noon, Shawnee Hall. Visit the Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, Transgender, Queer and Ally Program Center in its new location in Shawnee Hall. Light refreshments available.

Speech-Language Pathology Department Open House — 10 a.m. to noon, second floor of Monroe Hall.

East Stroudsburg University Homecoming Parade — 11 a.m., East Stroudsburg Borough. The parade will step off from the parking lot of ESU’s Kemp Library on Smith Street and will end in front of the Mattioli Recreation Center, on Centre Street. Information: Chris Bello, student activity association assistant director, at 570-422-3055.

Football Game: ESU vs. West Chester — 1:05 p.m., Eiler-Martin Stadium. Halftime features a second recognition of the Homecoming king and queen and the Athletic Hall of Fame inductees and a marching band performance. General admission tickets are $10, tickets for reserved chair back seating area in front of the Eiler-Martin Stadium press box are $15 and tickets for seniors 65 or older and children under 12 are $5.

Soccer games: ESU vs. Slippery Rock — Eiler-Martin Stadium

Warrior Women’s Soccer, 6 p.m., and Warrior Men’s Soccer, 8:30 p.m. Tickets are $6 for non-ESU students and $3 for children under 12. The event is free for students with an ESU student I.D. Sunday, October 7

Special Olympics — 9:30 a.m. — 5 p.m., various locations on campus. Athletes will participate in such activities as soccer, bocce and volleyball. ESU Women’s Field Hockey vs. Limestone— noon, Whitenight Field. Tickets are $6 for non-ESU students and $3 for children under 12. The event is free for students with an ESU student ID.
