This Weekend: Open houses for Sept. 29-30

You can still find bucolic pieces of property in Bergen County. This weekend, two open houses offer properties with peace and tranquility. A newer colonial in Ridgewood sits on a hill on an acre and a half, overlooking the Saddle River below.

“This is a great house, especially for families with boys, who would love to explore down by the river,” said Barbara Colella, listing agent with Prominent Properties Sotheby’s International Realty, Saddle River. “The Saddle River is stocked with trout and children don’t need a permit to fish.”

A Dutch colonial also sits in a lovely setting, on a flat acre-plus property, surrounded by tall evergreens, on one of Franklin Lakes’ most desirable streets.

This weekend’s search for a home may also include new construction communities featuring new models and buyer incentives.

Call Realtors to confirm the open houses you are interested in seeing.

The five-bedroom house, listed with Prominent Properties Sotheby’s International Realty, Saddle River, was built in 2001. The two-story foyer features nicely detailed rooms with moldings, recessed lighting and hardwood floors. The family room has a wood-burning fireplace off the kitchen. And the kitchen features a large eat-in breakfast area that leads to the deck for summer casual dining. There is also a full bedroom with a bath on the first floor. The home sits on top of the hill behind a white fence leading down to the river. The river is considered a flood plain, but the home is not in the flood zone because it sits high on top of a hill.
