Xbox 720 Durango devkit listed for sale at $10000

It appears that more and more information around the Xbox 720, or code-name Durango is being leaked over time. It has been confirmed that several developers already have the dev units for the Xbox 720 in their hands. Things took an interesting turn this week when a Durango devkit went up for sale at $10,000.

Eurogamer decided to follow up on this post, when it discovered the Xbox 720 dev kit up for sale on a developer forum. The picture of the dev kit looks like a tower PC that is black with no visible labels. The unit is shown hooked up to a monitor with the Durango dashboard with two apps – “D3D11Game1” and “NuiView.” Both of these apps are well known tools that are used for rendering camera views for the Kinect.

Several developers, known to be in possession of the Xbox 720 dev kit confirmed that this is the real thing to Eurogamer when the site ran these photos by them.

Eurogamer managed to track down the man that posted the dev kit for sale to inquire about the device. Apparently, he posted the unit up for sale as a joke but did confirm that it’s the real deal and the unit has over 8GB or RAM, and is 64-bit, based heavily on Microsoft’s DirectX 11. Apparently, dev kits typically have double the RAM found in retail versions in order for it to run tools in the background.

He also confirmed that Microsoft is apparently targeting an Intel Atom based CPU with eight cores for the final retail version. The fact that Microsoft is sending dev kits out to even questionable developers may be a sign that the Xbox 720 is close to launching soon.
