Event-booking website Eventup launched a Miami site Thursday that displays local properties available for events.

The Santa Monica, Calif.-based company currently lists 40 South Florida properties, including homes, cafés, outdoor spaces and galleries that can be booked through the website for corporate functions, weddings, birthday parties and other events.

Eventup launched in January. Miami is its fifth metropolitan area, following Los Angeles, San Francisco, New York and Chicago.

Founder Tony Adam sought to create a website that could take the frustration out of booking events.

“I saw a need to reduce all the friction and make it very simple for people and make the discovery process simple,” he said.

The site has attracted private and commercial property owners who are looking for a way to make extra cash.

Locations can be listed for free on Eventup; a 15 percent fee is charged once a booking is secured, Adam said.

Those interested can request a quote for event locations, which range from $250 to $10,000.
