Around Town: 7th annual Lincoln Highway ‘Buy-Way’ yard sale starts Thursday

Individuals, organizations, civic and church groups are busy planning multi-family sales and events during the Ohio Lincoln Highway’s seventh annual BUY-WAY yard sales from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Thursday through Aug. 6. Sales can be listed on the website for a nominal fee through Paypal to help visitors plan their trips at www.historicbyway.com/listmysale.

Among organizations participating in the yard sales, Children’s Miracle Network is collecting donations for CMN Yard Sales. Donations may be brought to Speedway at 3601 Lincoln Way E. Anyone interested in setting up a table, see Annette at Speedway. All proceeds will go to CMN.  

The Lutheran Church Women of Holy Trinity Lutheran Church, at 4275 Lincoln Way W, will participate in the “Buy Way” yard sales. Vendors may rent space for $10 a day or $25 for all three days (non-refundable) by picking up an application at the church between 9 a.m. and noon Monday through Friday or by calling 330-832-5263. Garage sale and flea market items, crafts, antiques and more will be sold. Refreshment stand and bathrooms on site.


The True Believer Ministries will have a FUNDRAISER/LARGE TENT SALE 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Thursday through Aug. 6 at 2971 Lincoln Way W. Cost is $1 per bag or donations will be accepted. The sale will be held rain or shine.  


After 29 years of dedication to the Massillon Public Library, Director Camille Leslie is retiring. Because Leslie would welcome the opportunity to personally thank loyal patrons and say farewell to friends and colleagues from other libraries, as well as members of our community, the Massillon Public Library Board of Trustees invites the public to an open house for a time of celebration and appreciation from 1 to 4 p.m. today at the library, 208 Lincoln Way E. Attendees are invited to bring photos and memories to share.


The Massillon Parks and Recreation Department brings the BOARDWALK to the Massillon Recreation Center from 1 to 4 p.m. today. Admission is free for members and $3 for nonmembers. Food and game tickets have an additional small fee. Bring the family to enjoy food, games and music. Swim in the aquatics area inside with the boardwalk outside.


COUNTRY MUSIC by Dusty Road Band is featured at the Red Lantern Barn in Brewster from 7 to 11 p.m. today. Small donation accepted. Everyone is welcome.


The AMERICAN RED CROSS BLOODMOBILE will be at St. Paul Lutheran Church, 127 Cherry Road NE, from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. today; and at First Baptist Church, 20 Sixth St. SE, from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. today.


The 47th annual ARTFEST will be 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. Sunday at the Campus Lakes on the University of Mount Union’s campus. More than 30 artists will have works on display and for sale. For more information, call Bob Buganski at 330-829-6185.


Retired salaried employees from Union Drawn Division of the former REPUBLIC STEEL CORP. and guests will meet for breakfast at 8 a.m. Tuesday at Top of the Viaduct Restaurant.

Kent State University at Stark hosts the Gallery 6000 exhibit, ATMOSCAPES, which is open to the public at The University Center, 6000 Frank Ave. NW in Jackson Township, through Oct. 21. It has been 150 years since the start of the Civil War and Chris will be dressed as a Civil War soldier.

Last month, 53 Fairless senior citizens and three guests (Dr. Mona Fair, Dr. Larry Chambliss, and Janice Courtney from Fairless High School) held their end of school year luncheon in St. Clement’s Church Parish hall. A moment of silence was held for member Blaine Kime and member Becky Wenger’s brother-in-law, Harlan Wenger. The bench that the group purchased for Fairless High School students arrived at the school and the students are enjoying it, according to President Jack Evans. Entertainment for the luncheon was the Valley Voices from the Dover and New Philadelphia area.  

WHS CHOIR STUDENTS are raising tour money at a reverse raffle at 7 p.m. Aug. 6 at the Massillon Eagles Club, 303  Weirich Blvd. NW.
