Peterborough United release listed winger Arron Davies

Davies came off the bench 12 times in 28 Posh appearances

Peterborough United have released transfer-listed midfielder Arron Davies by mutual consent.

The 27-year-old, who had 12 months remaining on his contract, was signed by former Peterborough manager Gary Johnson last summer.

He made 16 starts while at London Road, but was made available for transfer by current boss Darren Ferguson after Posh secured promotion to the Championship.

Johnson, now at Northampton Town, had expressed his interest in Davies.

The Cobblers boss, who also took Davies to Yeovil in 2004, told BBC Radio Northampton earlier in June: “He’s a spinning plate for us.

“He’s currently on holiday so things haven’t been set down and talked about yet.

“But, yes, I’m very aware of Arron Davies and he’s very aware of us.”

The Welsh international winger had two spells at Yeovil, either side of a stint at Nottingham Forest, before heading to Posh last year.
