LORAIN — Two homes renovated through Lorain’s Neighborhood Stabilization Program have found potential buyers.
Lorain’s Board of Control approved the sales of 3445 Grove Ave., for $59,900, and 739 Mildred Ave., with a listed price of $79,900, city officials said.
The deals are expected to close within 30 days, said Drake Hopewell, rehabilitation administrator for Lorain’s Community Development Department.
“It’s nice to take it to a conclusion and see these people become homeowners,” and keep homes from falling into run-down condition, he said. “We’re excited. I am excited about this process.”
Lorain’s Community Development Department used its Neighborhood Stabilization Program to demolish dozens of derelict homes around the city.
The NSP program also allowed the city to buy homes on the edge of foreclosure or needing serious work to keep them livable.
The houses are located mostly in older neighborhoods with have primarily owner-occupied homes. If the house goes into foreclosure or is vacant, then it could be vandalized or bought to be made into a rental unit.
The NSP has other houses for sale:
* 333 Indiana Ave., $67,900
* 314 Augusta Ave., $49,500
* 314 West 32nd St., $54,900
* 1143 West 23rd St., $64,900
* 2105 West 11th St., $79,900
