Jolo fire victims to get NHA housing

MANILA, Philippines – Two hundred families affected by the fire in Barangay Walled City in Jolo, Sulo last October will soon have new houses provided by the National Housing Authority (NHA).

A memorandum of agreement (MoA) was recently signed to provide housing for the Jolo fire victims under the NHA – Emergency Housing Assistance Program following the endorsement of Vice President Jejomar C. Binay, chairman of the Housing and Urban Development Coordinating Council (HUDCC).

Binay endorsed to NHA General Manager Chito M. Cruz the immediate allocation of P20 million for the construction of 200 houses for the affected families, the NHA said in a statement.

The MoA signing was held at the Housing and Guaranty Corporation office in Makati City and witnessed by Binay recently.

The beneficiaries include households listed under the official master list of Emergency Housing Assistance prepared and certified by the Provincial Social, Welfare and Development Office.
