Holy Grail Fail: Crime Spotlight

Local business Adrian Hamers, Inc. has been taken in an apparently fraudulent internet sale. According to Town of Mamaroneck (TOM) police reports, someone at Adrian Hamers ordered an 18K gold Tiffany chalice on Nov. 29, listed for sale on the Internet. According to its website, Adrian Hamers, Inc. has specialized in “manufacturing and supplying church items” for over a century.

After sending a certified check for $11,800 to pay for the item—which was never received—business representative Whittier Peirce filed a police report on Dec. 8. The case is listed as Grand Larceny, Third Degree. While the report lists Johnny Baker of Dallas, TX as wanted in connection in with the case, TOM Police Lt. Paul Creazzo says that there are no suspects at this time.

According to Creazzo, the TOM police department is, “actively investigating the case, since it originated here, and is working with other law enforcement agencies where necessary.”  Creazzo had no further details as to what website the item was originally listed for sale.
