The GPT Group is moving to sell more than 18-thousand square metres of land in the heart of Newcastle, described by the selling agent as a “chance to shape an entire city.”
Earlier this year the retail giant scrapped plans for a major new shopping and commercial precinct in the CBD, blaming a lack of government action on removing the city’s heavy rail line.
There was concern at the time that GPT would break up the land, preventing another developer from pursuing a similar sized development.
But, it has listed for sale all eight mixed-use development sites, spread over two city blocks.
