A dedicated Huddersfield charity is commemorating its 20th year.
Laura Crane Youth Cancer Trust will release a film and host 20 events as part of its 20TimesChallenge to encourage more people to support its work, which has provided crucial research funding for 13 to 24-year-old sufferers of the disease.
Taking the plunge on the world’s fastest zip wire, a sky dive and overseas bike rides and treks through the Amazon and the Sahara are some of the events already listed on the Trust’s website, which trustees hope people will sign up to.
Workers are also encouraging people to take on a 20 mile challenge.

Meanwhile, a heartfelt film called A Letter to Laura is soon to be released to highlight the achievements of the Laura Crane Youth Cancer Trust since it was founded in October 1996, only months after the death of Greenhead College student Laura, 17, from four aggressive cancers.
Talking about the anniversary, Helen Mervill, Laura’s friend and charity representative, said: “For those who had the good fortune to have known and loved Laura, the 20th anniversary has arrived with some sadness.
“But I can’t help but feel extremely proud that Laura’s story is continuing to inspire others to continue her fight and make a difference to young cancer patients now.
“Young people are more likely to be treated with other patients of their age and so able to gain peer support, which our research has shown can improve patient outcomes, they are more likely to have independent support and access to recreational equipment.”
It has so far funded dozens of projects.
This includes research of a new drug-based treatment for a multi-tumour brain and nervous system cancer and research into the optimum treatment for young people with Ovarian and Testicular cancers.
Non-medical research has also been funded, such as ensuring survivors have access to longer term support and improving treatment environments.
Trust manager Pam Thornes said: “The charity has achieved some great things on both a local and national level and continues to strive to achieve more in the fight against cancer in young people.

“We feel that much of the charity’s success is testament to the incredible support we have received from the people of Huddersfield from the very beginning.”
The film will feature local cancer survivor Sarah Dransfield, who has taken on an ambassador role for the trust.
She was diagnosed with an osteosarcoma in her right knee and received treatment at hospitals in Leeds and Birmingham, which included the amputation of her right leg above the knee.
