Has The Beautiful South star Paul Heaton put his Salford boozer up for sale?
The musician, who first found fame in The Housemartins, took over The King’s Arms in Bloom Street in 2011.
Now the lease to the Grade II-listed pub, which is also a popular theatre and music venue, is back on the market for £75,000 according to a listing by pub sales specialist Sidney Phillips.
A spokesman for the pub has denied it is for sale, however, claiming it was listed over six months ago and later withdrawn.
But agents at Sidney Phillips insist it is still on the market and say they have received no formal instruction to withdraw it from sale.
At the time of writing, the M.E.N was told the pub is ‘definitely still on the market.’
The listing still appears on its website, detailing the bar, theatre space, rehearsal rooms, beer cellar and store rooms and outside courtyard.
The historic pub opened in the 1870s, replacing an earlier Kings Arms built in 1807 on the opposite side of the street.
Today it hosts all kinds of events, from knitting club meetings to theatre festivals and gigs – including an intimate set by Paul and his former Beautiful South bandmate Jacqui Abbott last year.
The recently reunited duo were welcomed back with open arms when they released new album What Have We Become in May 2014, reaching number three in the charts.
A string of shows followed, including a headline slot at the second night of Summer in the City at Castlefield Bowl in July this year.
The pair are back on tour again next spring, including a gig at the O2 Apollo Manchester on March 24.
