With partners listed among the 100 most influential men and women in the county; a corporate team which has been named “best in England” across eight regions; and recognition as the sixth most influential law firm on Twitter – B P Collins LLP has plenty to celebrate as it prepares to mark its 50th anniversary in 2016.
Throughout this year there will be a series of events and activities under the Made to Last banner, which encapsulates the depth of relationships and support that B P Collins has given its many corporate and private clients throughout the decades and generations.
Chief executive, Ian Hopkins, welcomed the start of the campaign, saying: “This is a very special year for B P Collins and we think Made to Last perfectly sums up the commitment to both clients and the wider community that the firm has given over the years.
“The legal playing field has changed tremendously in the time since Brian Collins founded the firm and we’re proud that where others have fallen by the wayside, we have not only survived but emerged stronger than we have ever been.
“Today, we are winning awards, the skills of our lawyers are highly sought after, and our contribution to charitable causes across Buckinghamshire is more important than ever.
“Having joined the firm last August, I have been incredibly impressed with the commitment and professionalism shown by everyone and, as we begin our year of celebrations, I know we can look forward to more exciting times and an even brighter future ahead.”
It was July 1966, the year England won the World Cup, when Brian Collins set up the first B P Collins office in Chalfont St Peter. Since then, the firm has grown in size, stature and reputation into the forward-thinking and innovative practice that it is today.
Its team of 13 partners and over 50 lawyers and trainees, together with a hard-working support team, are well versed at handling anything from mergers and acquisitions to succession planning; pre-nups to property deals; employment arguments to inheritance battles.
At the heart of the practice are the corporate and commercial and private client teams, each renowned for quality and service, as recently evidenced when the firm was named as a “regional heavyweight” for the second year in a row in the annual Legal 500 league table of top law firms.
And among the partners recently singled out for special praise have been corporate specialist David Smellie, leading family lawyer Sue Andrews, and employment expert Jo Davis, who all achieved number one rankings as leading individuals from legal “bible” Chambers UK.
As well as its legal expertise, the firm is well known for its support for the local community – every year it helps raise funds as a gold sponsor of the Gerrards Cross Fun Run, and during 2015 it launched a charitable stewardship with Buckinghamshire’s Community Foundation Heart of Bucks (HoB) to help more charities across the county.
Working with the local business community, B P Collins is also a proud founding sponsor of the Bucks Sporting Lunch Club, where events attended by top sports men and women including Sharron Davies MBE and Eddie ‘the eagle’ Edwards, have helped raise thousands of pounds to help young up-and-coming athletes from Buckinghamshire.
And, underlining the spirit of entrepreneurship and determination which Brian showed all those years ago, recently the firm stepped forward as a sponsor of the 2016 Buckinghamshire Business Awards for the very first time.
With such a strong commitment to the community, combined with the expertise of its legal teams and reputation in the legal marketplace, B P Collins is certainly made to last.
