Boston St., Covington — Camellia growers are invited to bring their flowers in to be judged. Entries will be accepted from 8 a.m. to 10:30 a.m., followed by judging from 10:30 a.m. to noon. Free public viewing will be from 1 to 4 p.m. Experts will be on hand providing information on the cultivation, propagation, and care of camellias. ‘Pruning with Purpose’ workshop — Saturday, Jan. 9, 9 a.m.-noon, 10 a.m. presentation, Parkway Partners Greenhouse, 1137 Baronne St. — LSU AgCenter horticulture agent Lee Rouse teaches hands-on techniques to pruning trees and shrubs. The session will include a month-by-month guide for pruning and maintenance. On sale at the Parkway Partners Greenhouse will be citrus and fig trees, native trees, winter vegetable starts and colorful bedding plants, including Swan Columbine, Amazon Dianthus.
Herb and Veggie Plant Clearance Sale — Sunday, Jan. 10, 10 a.m.-1 p.m.,
The Southbound Gardens Nursery, 4221 S. Robertson — All plants are $1, and selection includes a wide variety of herbs and veggies, including Italian Flat leaf parsley, Siberian kale, Santos cilantro, Georgia Southern collards, southern giant mustard greens, dill, Brune D’Hiver lettuce, Red Fire lettuce, green onion, cutting celery, Australe lettuce, Red Russian kale, mountain mint, red veined sorrel, chives, Greek oregano, lemon balm, garlic chives, scarlet kale, calendula, Rhazes Little Gem lettuce, rosemary, borage, Astros arugula and Chinese kale.
